St Mungo's Museum

St Mungo’s Museum of Religious Life and Art is one of the most striking architectural and cultural attractions in the Scottish city of Glasgow. It opened in 1993 on Cathedral Square, near the Cathedral Cathedral. There are four exhibition rooms on three floors: the Religious Life Gallery, the Religious Art Gallery, and the Changing Rooms and Small Scottish Gallery.

The museum exhibits focus on the major world religions: Hinduism, Buddhism, Judaism, Christianity, Islam and Sikhism. Its main aim is to improve understanding between people of different religions. You can admire a statue of God Shiva, learn about the lives of Christian saints as well as admire intricate Islamic calligraphy.

In order to blend in with the architectural ensemble of Cathedral Square, a beautiful building in medieval style was erected for the museum. The construction reminds one of a fortress, with two towers and a massive fortified facade. Its peculiarity is a set of windows of various shapes and sizes. The western part of the building has a trapezoidal top, while the northern part is rectangular.
